What are the Symptoms and stages ?

With symptoms present a negative lab results mean very little as they are very unreliable, many Lyme patients are diagnosed with other illnesses espescially in the late persistant stage such as:

Juvenile Arthritis,

 Rheumatoid Arthritis,

Reactive Arthritis,

Infectious Arthritis,

Osteoarthritis,

Fibromyalgia,

Reynaud’s Syndrome

Cancers

Multiple Sclerosis

Fifth disease

Bipolar depression

Chrons disease

Menieres syndrome

Lupus

IBS

Thyroid disease

Early Alzheimer’s

Colitis

Encephalitis

Reflux disease

Early ALS

Scleroderma

There are many other various illnesses and if you have been diagnosed with any or more of the above and you see if the Lyme symptoms below meet your symptoms then please seek out a LLMD (Lyme Literate Doctor).

You may go through  periods of remission your symptoms may change and have varying degrees of severity..

Answer yes to 20 or more of the Lyme symptoms should be told to your Doctor or LLMD and research for yourself.

Different stages

Stage 1

A bulls eye rash but sometimes there is no rash, less than half develop a rash and majority do not even remember being bitten.

The bulls eye rash is usually circular and has a fading spot in the centre.

Some do not develop any symptoms at this stage.

Swollen Lymph nodes

Fatigue

Headaches

Joint pain

muscle pain

stiff neck

fevers

chills

Flu like symptoms

NB* One does not always get a bulls eye rash with the European Tick and a rash can develop anywhere on the body away from the bite, a rash may keep on reappearing on diffrent parts of the body as the infection develops.

Stage 2

If Lyme is not detected while early symptoms are present the infection can then affect the skin, joints, organs and nervous system.

Extreme fatigue

Rashes

Migrating pain (pain that changes locations and comes and goes)

Poor memory and concentration problems

Irritability Vision problem

Internal buzzing feeling

Heart palpitations

Panic Attacks

Mood disorders

Weakness and/or numbness in the arms or legs.

Twitching muscles

Severe and recurring headaches

Fainting or vaso vagal attacks

Stage 3

Chronic Lyme or Late Persistent Infection  

Swelling and pain in the joints

Bells Palsy (partial paralysis of the face)

Getting lost in familiar places

All symptoms seem to come and go.

Panic attacks/anxiety.

Extreme fatigue.

Increased weight gain/weight loss

"European Congenital Lyme Rash"

There are many other symptoms associated with chronic Lyme and they can all be varied. Perhaps it is connected to where the person was bitten or their immune system response or if it is congenital Lyme.
Even the majority of spinal taps reveal normal spinal fluid  Full evaluation at labs that specialize in TBD can be very helpful although negative results do not mean absence of disease. Laboratory testing can be very difficult as many patients are serologically negative for antibodies.
